Japan is a journey that deserves nothing less than pure magic ✨— which is why we’re waiting to bring it to life. The extra time means more care, more beauty, and an experience as unforgettable as the country itself. 🌸🏯
The country is currently struggling with over tourism in where is considered the “must-see” destinations- Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, etc. Due to this, I do not feel “right” about going where I originally planned…the trip is not out of mind but I do need to put more care in to make sure I follow my beliefs on travel being of benefit to both parties.❤️
Meet Michelle
Founder of Ember and Earth Travel
Michelle is the heart behind Ember and Earth Travel – Weaving Women’s Adventures, a boutique travel company that curates meaningful, women-only journeys rooted in connection, culture, and community. A lifelong explorer, Michelle took her first solo international flight at 22, landing in Japan—a bold step that led to over four years of living and exploring overseas. Now based in Calgary and a mother of four, her love for travel never paused, even while raising a busy family.
Some of her most treasured experiences include visiting the birth countries of two of her children—Sierra Leone and Ethiopia—spending a month with her family in a Nepalese children’s home run by a Canadian charity, and returning to Japan 25 years after her first adventure there with her family. She has explored many places and styles of travel, finding strength and courage going solo, and joy and laughter journeying with close friends. For Michelle, travel has always been adventurous, uplifting, and a chance to reconnect with the beauty of the world and it’s people.
Michelle believes that travel with women is powerful—it sparks laughter, awakens and deepens friendships, and reminds us how good it feels to just be ourselves. These aren’t self-help trips; we’re already in our glorious years. Ember and Earth Travel, is about celebrating that- stepping away from the noise, reconnecting with what lights us up, and savoring the richness of the world together.
